Abstract

Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate ocular deviation in bright and ambient rooms and compare the fixation disparity using the German binocular measurement methodology Mess und Korrektionsmethodik nach Haase (MKH) to the one based on the idea of anglosphere.
Methods: Thirty-five subjects from the adult age group involving no specific ocular disease and greater than 0.8 visual acuity participated in the study. The conventional MKH in Germany was modified for this study.
Results: There was a change in ocular deviation in 6 subjects (age ¡Â30 years), depending on the change in the luminance in the room. Four of those showed adduction and two showed abduction in tendency, which was not statistically analyzed because of the lack of samples. There was a significant difference between the fixation disparity by MKH and the one by the idea of anglosphere (15.7¡¾12.4' and 65.4¡¾52.8', respectively; p=0.001).
Conclusions: It is considered that the change in luminance in a room has a tendency of unstable ocular deviation especially in younger people. There is a quantitatively huge difference between the anglosphere and German logical methodologies in measure.
